Persistence Will Bring Your Desire, But Are You Ready for It? | Joy Media, LLC

I saw this image online and it reminded me of my son's pencils when he was in elementary school. He'd use them til they wore out. And then, he'd never throw them out because they had become his friends. He even gave them names.

Merriam-Webster defines persistence as "firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition."

Taking a look at goals; some of them are short term, like the one that states I will complete this project or make x amount of money. Sometimes they can take as short as a week or a year to manifest. Then, there are other longer term pursuits that could possibly take decades to materialize. And when you begin to see the signs they are becoming a reality, you may even forget that's what you planned in the first place.

Personally, I'm in the midst of seeing one of my longer term desires manifest. It took persistence to get here. Now that I'm here, honestly, it's a little scary because it's time to take a leap, whether physically or one of faith.

With long term goals, you need persistence to create them. You work on them, imagine them, and eventually opportunities appear that will create them. But with these opportunities, most times you have to let go of what you have in order to accept what you desired.

It's kind of like my son not wanting to throw away those tiny pencils. The familiar becomes a part of us and can cement us to them. It's up to us to clear the fog of an attachment and go with the flow.
